I love love love art and want to have a crazy house full of it with weird things all over the place for people to discover. I found Philip S. Black to be bold with a nice organic feel to his pieces (did I mention that he is Canadian?). Most of his pottery is sculptural - the piece below is not the norm but it is my favorite...


From his website:

I am a potter. I began the adventure some eight years ago to balance my work as an architect. I considered that Architecture had become dominated by the limitations of the computer and that clay could loosen up my designs. However, like many working with clay, I found it took on a fascination of its own. Quite soon, I felt as much a potter as an architect.

My present work is something of a reaction to the sophisticated, over- glazed over -coloured ware that seems to be becoming the norm. I am conscious of the many influences of experience that converge to shape what I make. I like the earth tones and the flame flashes resulting from the primitive method of final firing my pots in a pit using waste wood and sawdust. To further enhance this look I often introduce foreign objects into the clay before throwing, to encourage imperfections in the final work.

Good art should reflect the artist.

My Dream Coffee Table

I have this love-hate thing with marble. I love it, my husband hates it. I know I will win in the end. I want this table from Style Garage - though I am sure that the price is a bit hefty. Contrary to what their webpage would have you believe, this table is not $750 CDN, only the small side table version. You can have them custom build it to your specifications... I have been too afraid to ask what this version would be.
